Music technology company Spitfire Audio launches label

British music technology company Spitfire Audio has announced it will be launching its own record label, SA Recordings.

The label will promote the work of Spitfire-affiliated artists and composers and will involve a number of associated content and marketing activities. These will include bespoke sample libraries from each artist, merchandise, live events, collaborative projects, and sync opportunities to ensure SA Recordings extends beyond the traditional record label model.

Spitfire Audio has been creating bespoke sample libraries and virtual instruments for 10 years. It has reported revenue growth of more than 400% over the last five years and seen its overall user base increase by 153% year-on-year

The company has previously collaborated with artists including Hans Zimmer and Olafur Arnalds.

Label manager Harriet Pittard said: “The launch of SA Recordings will be an opportunity to work even more closely with artists and composers affiliated with Spitfire Audio - many of whom we have collaborated with already and whose music we would like to champion going forward. The label will also open up a space for us to forge new collaborative relationships with emerging composers. It will function as a key marketing asset for the business, creating a new platform for Spitfire Audio to engage with its established community as well as new audiences.”

According to Pittard, the opportunity for artists to accompany their releases with one of SA’s signature sample libraries will be “a pioneering and unique asset that will set SA Recordings apart”.

The first release on SA Recordings today is an EP from Spitfire Audio’s lead composer Oliver Patrice Weder.  The EP will be released on limited edition vinyl and on all streaming platforms, targeting Spitfire’s dedicated audience while also fulfilling the company ethos of opening up orchestral music more widely.

With the 2019 release schedule already comprising numerous EPs and LPs, SA Recordings aims to establish itself as a multi-genre, multi-platform record label, working with classical, contemporary, film, avant-garde, electronic and experimental music.
