Parlophone Records has signed Welsh rock icons Stereophonics for their upcoming 10th album.
Having sold over 10 million albums across the globe, Stereophonics are one of the most successful British acts of all time. Their first album Word Gets Around charted at No.6 and is certified three-times platinum. This was followed by six subsequent No.1 albums.
Miles Leonard, chairman, Parlophone Records, said: “Stereophonics are a band I’ve been a fan of for the last 20 years, they’ve consistently delivered great albums and it’s an honour to have them sign with us. First and foremost the music is what really excited us and made us want to be involved in this milestone record. The label is hugely excited to be working with the band on what we all feel is their most accomplished album yet.”
Frontman Kelly Jones added: "It's our 20th year, but for me the band is not about looking back, it's about looking forward. I don't ever want to rehash what I've done. I'm proud of our run so far, but I feel we have so much more to give. The gigs are bigger, the 15 year old kids in the front rows tell me that the fan base is constantly growing, and the new music needs to be represented by people who are as excited as they are seeing us for the first time and discovering the music we have made in many styles and colours, and Parlophone have given me that feeling, so here's to a new chapter."
Dan Garnett, Nettwerk Management, commented: "It’s a testament to the band’s drive and desire that in their 20th year they decided to release their 10th studio album, and we are excited to have chosen such a passionate team of music people at Parlophone to work with on this important album release."
Stereophonics are the latest act to join the Parlophone roster, which includes artists such as Coldplay, Gorillaz, Tinie Tempah, Kano, Lily Allen, Disciples, David Guetta and Two Door Cinema Club.
