Ruby Chou's day: Warner Music Taiwan appoints MD

Ruby Chou has been appointed as the new managing director of Warner Music Taiwan. The new role is effective immediately.

She will be based in Taipei, reporting to Simon Robson, president of Warner Music Asia.

Chou was previously the MD of Money101 Taiwan. During her time there she turned the financial services company into a household name in the country, hugely growing its revenue and market share in the process. 

Her career background is in digital marketing and she’s worked on range of high-profile brands at leading agencies. In 2011, Chou joined Edelman PR & Digital as head of consumer and digital. She helped bring leading international brands including eBay, Fiji Water and Spotify into the Taiwanese market.

Chou said: “Getting to lead the incredible Warner Music Taiwan team is a huge honour for me. I’ve always been a storyteller, working with brands to connect them with consumers. Now I have the opportunity to bring those skills to bear to help our artists engage with fans. I can’t wait to get started.”  

Robson added: “Ruby brings a huge amount of brand marketing experience to our company and is well-positioned to help our artists cut through in the attention economy. She also has great leadership skills and is well-placed to guide our team in Taipei as it continued to develop.” 

Warner Music Taiwan is home to artists including Barry Chen, Freya Lim, Jam Hsiao and his band Lion, Jess Lee, JJ Lin, Tiger Huang, Trash, Ty, Will Pan and Xiaoyu.

Chou began her career in the Toronto office of global marketing and advertising agency Oglivy & Mather back in 2000.
