'They are driven by a genuine passion and love for music': First Access forms investment partnership with Futurekind

Sarah Stennett has spoken of her admiration for the “innovative” duo behind Futurekind, as First Access Entertainment announces a long-term investment partnership with the company.

As exclusively revealed in the latest issue of Music Week, First Access has taken a stake in Futurekind, which was founded in 2016 by Chuck Waite and Laurence Abrahams.

Abrahams was a previous partner at leading music law firm SSB, which was co-founded by Stennett. He represented clients including Dua Lipa, Rag’N’Bone Man and George Ezra. Waite was co-founder of record label Dirty Hit (The 1975, Wolf Alice) and manages writer and producer Joe Janiak (Ellie Goulding, Sigrid, Snakehips, Britney Spears).

"I am very happy for First Access Entertainment to partner with Futurekind,” said CEO Sarah Stennett. “I have known Laurence for years, through his great work as a partner at SSB, and have admired Chuck's historical success as a manager and co-founder of Dirty Hit. Young, dynamic, entrepreneurial, innovative and driven by a genuine passion and love for music, Chuck and Laurence and their fledgling company encapsulate the spirit of everything I value within the entertainment industry."

We are very proud of the company we have built, and even more so of the disruptive plan we now have in place, with the involvement of Sarah and her incredible team

“Our partnership with Sarah Stennett and First Access Entertainment accelerates our movement into markets we never thought possible at this stage: to be truly global,” said Waite. “Sarah’s perspective and dedication to creating the next phase of the entertainment industry is immensely impressive. There are no restrictions or predetermined parameters by which she operates and her experience and success speaks for itself.”

Abrahams added: “We are very proud of the company we have built, and even more so of the disruptive plan we now have in place, with the involvement of Sarah and her incredible team at First Access Entertainment.”

The latest deal follows the global publishing JV formed with Sony/ATV last year. Futurekind’s roster of writers and produces included The 23rd (Sigrid, Astrid S, Alma), Tom Mann (Liam Payne, James TW, Pretty Much), Dan Bartlett (Little Mix, Feder) and Jamie Norton (Take That).

Futurekind provides a full spectrum of bespoke publishing, recording, licensing and branding services to artists, writers and producers.
