Topsify and Playlists.net founder Kieron Donoghue launches new indie label

Topsify and Playlists.net founder Kieron Donoghue has announced the launch of his new "streaming-friendly" independent label, Humble Angel Records.

The label is the newest business venture for the entrepreneur, who was most recently VP of global playlist strategy and curation at Warner Music. It will centre on the streaming world due to his experience in the beta launch of Spotify in 2008, and a background of working in playlists and online marketing for the past 10 years.

Its first release is London-based Mancunian pop singer-songwriter Jazz Mino's cover of The Human League’s 1984 hit Together In Electric Dream, which is available to stream and download now.

Donoghue (pictured) said Humble Angel Records will aim to ensure a better deal for artists by offering double the average of major labels for royalties and paying artists monthly as an alternative to a yearly rate. Anyone due a royalty percentage will also be paid on an automatic monthly basis, and budding artists can submit music via an online form on their website.

Using key technology the label will also analyse where and how the public are listening to the releases to ensure how they will then convert that into fair revenue for the artists.
