BBC Radio 6 Music head Paul Rodgers has hailed the station's "uncompromising" live music output.
Morrissey, Mogwai, Alt J, Loyle Carner and Robert Plant are set to play BBC Radio 6 Music’s Live At Maida Vale event for 2017 over the week of October 2.
“That’s a fantastic line-up and it’s the best we can make it,” said Rodgers, speaking to Music Week. “Listeners respond to something that happens in a moment, so live music is what we do. BBC 6 Music Live goes out on Lauren Laverne’s show with a great, great community of people responding to it and there’s no substitute for that.
The five acts follow in the footsteps of a group of artists including Sir Paul McCartney, The Pretenders and New Order.
The annual BBC 6 Music Festival, meanwhile, took place in Glasgow in March, featuring the likes of Depeche Mode, Sleaford Mods, Warpaint, The Jesus And Mary Chain and Ride.
"Our live offering makes us a really different proposition and it’s uncompromising," added Rodgers.
