Cardiff venue adopts mobile-first ticketing

Cardiff club Clwb Ifor Bach has become the first venue in Wales to adopt mobile-first ticketing.

The move has been designed to eliminate touting and allowing refunds up to moments before gigs start, and has been made possible by music discovery and ticketing app Dice.

Dice's mobile-only tickets can’t be bought up by secondary ticketing sites or sold by touts outside of venues.

Russ Tannen, Dice head of music, said, “Like our recent partnerships with venues across the UK, we’re really excited to partner with Clwb Ifor Bach as our first venue in Wales. Clwb Ifor Bach brings forward thinking artists to Cardiff, they are committed to making the fan experience the priority and keeping touts out.”

Guto Brychan, CEO of Clwb Ifor Bach, said, “Working with DICE felt like a natural fit for us, our mutual belief in putting fans first made it an easy decision. Digital ticketing is the future of the music industry and using DICE means we can provide tickets in a safe and easy to use format for our gig goers. We’re excited to be working with DICE and look forward to building the partnership in the future.”

Tickets can be purchased, returned and transferred with a few taps of a smartphone. Fans will also be offered real-time support direct to their mobile and can subscribe to the venue to receive updates like stage times and support act announcements.
