Celebrating David Bowie tour to return to the UK in 2018

A tour celebrating the life and career of David Bowie will return to the UK next year.

Celebrating David Bowie, a concert produced and performed by the late star’s former collaborators, will also take place in Europe and North America.

The tour comes off the back of the sell-out show at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on January 8 this year, which would have been Bowie’s 70th birthday.

The three-hour long show, which was hosted by actor Gary Oldman, a friend of the singer, brought friends, former bandmates and other famous faces together to celebrate his life by performing his biggest hits.

The show then travelled to Los Angeles, Sydney and Tokyo and next year will visit other major cities.

Keyboard player Mike Garson, who collaborated with Bowie for many years, said: “The shows had a magic because our intent was to celebrate David with as much love and respect as we could.

“So many lovely artists from all around the globe contributed and I loved all seven shows as each musician and artist brought their own way of self expression.”

Garson will be joined by previous Bowie band leaders, guitarist and vocalist Adrian Belew and guitarist Gerry Leonard, and between them, they all have over 30 years experience of recording, writing and playing live with Bowie.

The show’s creator and producer Angelo Bundini said: “After the last tour, I didn’t really imagine playing more shows because it was insanely difficult to pull off. David’s last tour was in 2004, so I began to wonder what he might do if he were to tour again today. That’s what we’re presenting in 2018.”

VIP tickets will go on sale Tuesday, September 26 with the general on sale starting Friday, September 29 at 10am.
