Ed Sheeran's ÷ world tour has set the all-time touring record for a calendar year after grossing $432 million (£341m) in 2018 alone.
More than 4.8 million tickets were sold for the run, which continues next year. When combined with 2017's numbers, the tour is already the third highest-grossing ever, behind only U2’s 360° ($735m) and the Rolling Stones’ A Bigger Bang ($558m), according to Pollstar's year-end figures.
The Top 10 of the Worldwide Tours chart surpassed $2 billion (£1.58bn) in grosses for the first time. Taylor Swift’s Reputation Stadium Tour is No. 2 on the 2018 list, grossing $345m (£272.3m).
The worldwide Top 10 also comprises Jay-Z & Beyoncé (No.3, $254.1m), Pink (No.4, $169.2m), Bruno Mars (No.5, $167.6m), Eagles (No.6, $166m), Justin Timberlake (No.7, $151m), Roger Waters (No.8, $131.3m), U2 ($126.2m) and The Rolling Stones ($116.6m).
Live Nation was the top promoter, selling 49.6m tickets, well ahead of No.2 AEG Presents (11.6m), while Mexico City's Foro Sol was the busiest stadium, welcoming 887,802 fans.
