Festival Republic, Universal Music and Shambala honoured at Creative Green Awards

Festival Republic took home a hat-trick of prizes from the 2018 Creative Green Awards, which also honoured Universal Music and Shambala Festival.

Organised by environmental charity Julie's Bicycle, the ceremony was held last night (July 9) at London's Roundhouse, with contributions from Baroness Lola Young, artist Michael Pinsky and Matthew Bourne of New Adventures.

Festival Republic received the Outstanding Achievement award and its flagship Reading & Leeds event was named Best Festival, while the company's sustainability coordinator Vikki Chapman was one of three people to be crowned a Green Champion.

There were also awards for Universal Music (Highest Achievement For Commitment) and Shambala Festival (Highest Achievement For Commitment).

Alison Tickell (pictured), director of Julie’s Bicycle, said: "These awards show the outstanding quality and progressive leadership on climate and the environment from the UK’s cultural community. With energy and imagination the sector continues to drive down emissions and power up sustainable change."
