Metallica have announced a series of special events in London to celebrate the release of their new album Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, released on November 18.
The band will be signing autographs and meeting fans at midnight November 17 at HMV Oxford Street. This will be their first ever signing in the UK. Fans who pre-order the album from hmv.com will be entered into a prize draw, with 200 places available.
The following evening (November 18) will see the band performing an exclusive, intimate gig at House of Vans. Fans can register to win via the House of Vans site, with winners asked to offer a £20 donation to charity The Railway Children.
Hardwired…To Self-Destruct follows 2008’s multi-platinum Death Magnetic and was produced by Greg Fidelman. Speaking to the BBC in September, frontman James Hetfield said: “As far as our look and our health, we’re doing our best. We got grey hair but we’ve earned this stuff.”
In that same interview, drummer Lars Ulrich discussed the album’s sound: “I feel this is Metallica at the leanest we’ve been for a while. Maybe even the leanest we’re capable of.”
The band will be touring extensively worldwide from November into April next year.
