The FanFair Alliance has announced that ticketing companies Gigantic, See Tickets, Skiddle and The Ticket Factory have signed its declaration against online touting.
The declaration asks supporters to take five actions to ensure face value tickets reach fans as well as measures to stop online touting.
A spokesman for the Alliance said: “There is a clear trend emerging between those who want to tackle industrial-scale touting and those who profit from it, and we are delighted that Gigantic, See Tickets, Skiddle and The Ticket Factory have signed the FanFair Declaration. We will be encouraging more to come onboard in 2017. Working together, and with the right political support, our goal is to help recalibrate the ticketing market to make it fairer and more transparent to fans.”
The FanFair Alliance was established in July this year by Adam Tudhope (Everybody’s Management), Alex Bruford (ATC Live), Brian Message (ATC Management), Ian McAndrew (Wildlife Management) and Harry Magee (Modest Management).
Since then, the group has been lobbying the government to take measures against online ticket touting, receiving early support from MP Sharon Hodgson. The government is proposing an amendment to the Digital Economy Bill to outlaw the use of bots (software used to harvest tickets for resale), while culture minister Matt Hancock said last month that he had been “persuaded” of the need to take action.
Last Friday (December 16), the FanFair Alliance spoke up in favour of Barack Obama’s decision to sign the BOTS (Better Online Ticket Sales) act, which bans the use of such software.
