Music Week gigs of the week: June 29-July 5

Thursday, June 29

Public Access T.V., The Lexington, 7.30pm

Most of us can agree that both the 1970s and New York City are pretty cool. If you fit into that bracket you probably already love this lot, who are back in London for a night of beer-stained rock’n’roll. Wear your finest indie threads for this one.

Friday, June 30

Terry + Child’s Pose + Home Entertainment, The Lexington, 7.30pm

Australia has produced some great punk bands over the last few years and Terry are no exception. Their shows are like their records, freaky and enjoyable. Get down early for a decent supporting line-up.

Saturday, July 1

The Maccabees + The Mystery Jets + Idles, Alexandra Palace, 6.00pm

Is this really goodbye? Sadly, according to The Maccabees, it is. Wave them off at their final London show, the last of three at Ally Pally. As ever, they’ll make a massive room feel tiny with warm-hearted indie floorfillers.

Tuesday, July 4

Benjamin Booker, Moth Club, 7.00pm

Rough Trade’s sandpaper-voiced punk soul brother is back with new record Witness, and it’s an intense affair. Matched with now notorious backbreaking approach to playing live, it’ll make for an exhilarating combination.

Wednesday, July 5

Arcade Fire, 7.30pm, York Hall

Arcade Fire in a small venue, launching a much-anticipated new record. Prepare for the crush.
