Send them Victorious: Global on its new festival acquisitions

Global Entertainment has consolidated its status as the UK’s second largest festival operator after securing majority stakes in Portsmouth’s Victorious Festival and Croatia’s Hideout.

The company, which entered the festivals business two years ago with its acquisition of Broadwick Live, now owns Victorious Festival, Snowbombing, Festival No.6, Rewind Festival, South West Four, Field Day, Boardmasters, Y Not, Truck, Transition, Hideout and Electric Elephant, and has interests in Lost Village and Standon Calling.

“We are excited to welcome Victorious and Hideout Festival to the family,” said Global’s chief operating officer, Ian Hanson.

“Each of them is a renowned music festival with a strong and loyal following and we look forward to working with the festivals’ management teams to grow them to the next level. We are continuing to grow our portfolio with more to come.”

Victorious is a 60,000-capacity family festival held in Portsmouth across the August Bank Holiday weekend. First held in 2012, acts have included Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Manic Street Preachers, Mark Ronson, Basement Jaxx and Ray Davies. This year’s line-up includes Stereophonics, Madness, Franz Ferdinand and Elbow.

Hideout, meanwhile, has become one of Europe’s leading electronic music festivals since debuting on Zrce Beach, Croatia each summer in 2011. Its 2017 line-up is headed by Stormzy, Diplo and Major Lazer.

The acquisitions are the latest in a series of strategic moves made by Global to grow its festival roster across the UK, Europe and Canada.
