Six Questions With... Adam Goodyer of LiveStyled

Welcome to the latest edition of Six Questions With..., a weekly short and sharp interview with a live music figure. Email jhanley@nbmedia.com if you would like to take part or recommend someone for inclusion.

This week's Q&A is with Adam Goodyer of LiveStyled, which develops and operates a white-labelled mobile app platform for venues.

What was your first job in music?

As a runner at a studio in the West End. I lasted a day, my tea-making skills weren’t up to scratch. Needless to say, they’re much better now.

How long have you been in your current role?

Three years as founder and CEO of LiveStyled. Prior to that, 10 years as founder and MD of Concert Live.

What is your favourite thing about working in the live music industry?

I love the opportunity for innovation the industry presents. I started at the beginning of the digital dawn and when the core of an industry starts to shrink, and shrink rapidly, it opens people’s minds to new possibilities and encourages them to take risks on the things that are new.

What is the one thing you would like to change about the business?

I’d like the industry to take better ownership of its data and the journey of its customers. From labels to live, huge strides can be made when you truly know and react to your customers.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

I’m lucky that every day is a highlight as I get to work with so many forward-thinking and talented people. Outside of that, it would have to be LiveStyled’s mobile data platform being adopted by all of AEG Europe’s venues. Our audience reach is now over 30% of the UK market, which is incredibly exciting.

What's the best gig you’ve ever been to?

The Cinematic Orchestra at The Barbican in 2007 - a gig where music and musicianship captivated everyone. It felt like the whole venue was holding its breath for 90 minutes.
