The Great Escape adds Goat Girl and more to line-up, announces new beach venues

The Great Escape has announced its latest wave of acts for 2018, as well as the creation of a new 2,000 capacity area on Brighton beach.

The new site will house two new venues, with line-ups to be curated by Dr Martens, AWAL and Island Records, along with other partners.

With the bills yet to be confirmed, the new location joins a list of 30 Brighton venues already partnered with the festival.

Rory Bett, MAMA Festivals CEO said: “With demand and drive for new music and an ever-expanding festival, creating our first, very own festival site on the beach is the most exciting news in TGE’s history and we couldn’t have a more perfect spot than right on the seafront. The Beach will become a magnet for music lovers during the festival and we can’t wait to open the doors.”

Among the latest acts announced for the event, which takes place from May 17-19, are Music Week  On The Radar alumni Tom Grennan, Goat Girl and The Wandering Hearts, plus this week’s OTR star Nilüfer Yanya and Superorganism, who appeared in our new music issue back in January.

The Great Escape has also revealed a partnership with Brighton charity FareShare Sussex, which redistributes surplus from the food industry to over 100 charities and community groups supporting vulnerable people across Brighton and Sussex.

Rachel Carless, the charity’s development manager said: “We are so thrilled to be working together with the Great Escape. As a small charity it is really exciting for us, making a real impact boosting our profile as well as raising much-needed funds to keep up our work.”
