UK Music chief executive Jo Dipple has told Music Week Donald Trump's victory in last week's American election "will bring visa implications for foreign visitors".
While she acknowledged the finer details will only become clear once the dust settles, Dipple spoke of Trump's "clear desire to put US interests first" and said there would be "a clear impact on UK artists who want to work and tour in the US."
In the front-page splash of the new edition of Music Week (out now), Dipple also referenced Trump’s “distrust of the media and high scepticism towards Google”, noting “there may be a change of thinking towards companies that have operated seemingly without constraint.”
Elsewhere in the article, execs including CEO, National Publishers Association, David Israelite, ASCAP CEO Elizabeth Matthews, RIAA CEO Cary Sherman and Richard James Burgess, CEO, A2IM all gave their opinions on the possible music business ramifications – both positive and negative – of Trump’s shock victory.
