Van Morrison officially opened the Bonus Arena, Hull with a sold-out show.
The singer/songwriter's performance last Thursday saw the musician perform two encores at the conclusion of his 95-minute set.
John Sharkey, SMG EVP of European operations, said: “The Bonus Arena is a huge legacy for the city of Hull and will do fantastic things for tourism, catapulting the region on to the UK map in a big way as a destination experience. The arena has world class acoustics and the incredible reaction from the audience at the end of Van Morrison’s second encore proves Hull and the Humber region are ready to support the fantastic shows and tours coming to the city in the future.”
Dan Harris, general manager at the Bonus Arena, said: “It was a privilege to welcome Van Morrison to Hull to officially open the Bonus Arena. Van Morrison is an absolute legend and to open the venue with someone of his stature was very fitting. We now look forward to creating even more musical history in the city.”
Other upcoming gigs at the 3,500-capacity venue include Courteeners, Jack White, George Ezra, The Vamps, Rick Astley and Boy George And Culture Club.
