Independent promoters Now Wave are set to open a brand new four storey music, bar and food hangout in Manchester called Yes. The venue – located at 38 Charles Street M1 7BD – will celebrate its opening weekend on September 21–23.
Collectively, Now Wave (Wesley Jones and Jon Wickstead), along with live promoter Ruth Hemmingfield (formerly The Deaf Institute, Gorilla, The Albert Hall and Band On The Wall) have hosted more than 1,000 shows from the likes of Parquet Courts, Savages, Diiv, Mac DeMarco, Jon Hopkins, Deerhunter and The xx.
Two years in the making, Yes will “provide a social hub and creative space” and will feature a basement club, ground floor beer hall bar, live Pink Room and an open roof top terrace. It will also be a child and dog-friendly venue equipped with street food vendors and will be wheelchair accessible on all floors.

Speaking about the launch, Jon Wickstead said: "We’re proud to be able to contribute to the city’s independent scene which is why we’ll continue promoting events in its other amazing venues and we hope Yes will allow our collective experience to help others do amazing things as well.”
Another major selling point is the flown-in tailor made sound-system. Ruth Hemmingfield explains: “Manchester has some beautiful venues so whilst our Pink Room is more minimal, we’re going all out on sound quality. Manchester’s Neuron Pro Audio have fitted Danley Sound Labs PA speakers – they were designed by one of the most innovative loudspeaker designers in the industry who pioneered technology for NASA and invested acoustic levitation.”
Upcoming performances at Yes across the next few months are set to include Octavian (26.10), Gwenno (13.10), Gilles Peterson (03.11) and U.S Girls (21.11).
