Arctic Monkeys, Noel Gallagher, Jorja Smith and Lily Allen are among the 12 artists to have secured a place on this year’s Hyundai Mercury Prize shortlist.
The nominees were revealed this morning (July 26) at a live launch at London’s Langham Hotel, hosted by BBC Music’s Huw Stephens. The winner will be revealed at Hammersmith's Eventim Apollo on Thursday, September 20.

Albums by British or Irish artists released between Saturday, July 22 and Friday, July 20 were eligible for entry.
Of the 12 nominated albums, eight belong to indie labels, with the remaining four divided between the majors. Universal have two nominees (Florence + The Machine and Sons Of Kemet), Sony have one (Everything Everything) and Warner Music one (Lily Allen).
Sampha won the 2017 Mercury Prize for his debut album Process. You can relive the highlights from last year's ceremony here. Previous winners have included Skepta, PJ Harvey, The xx, Dizzee Rascal and Arctic Monkeys.
Ahead of the unveiling of the Mercury shortlist, Spotify signed up as digital partner for the 2018 edition of the Hyundai Mercury Prize, replacing Apple Music.
