"Be part of the change": UK Music's Michael Dugher urges industry to take part in diversity survey ahead of deadline

UK Music chief executive Michael Dugher has issued a final call to everyone in the music industry to “be part of the change” by taking part in its diversity survey before the deadline on Friday (October 6).

The survey aims to improve diversity and break down barriers faced by those from minority groups trying to break into the industry.

Speaking about the deadline, Dugher said: “We’ve already had a fantastic response. But it is vital that as many people as possible complete our diversity survey to ensure it has the maximum impact. We cannot just will the means without taking action to influence the outcomes we all want to see. I would urge everyone to be part of a positive change by making sure they take part in the diversity survey this week.

He continued: “As an industry we need to be doing far more to reflect the audiences we seek to entertain. There have been a host of improvements, but we can and should do more when it comes to diversity.”

UK Music’s inaugural survey last year collated data from almost 3,000 people from across both major and independent record labels, managers, publishers, producers, royalty-collection societies and the live music industry.
