Global launches Heart 90s brand extension

Global is to launch brand extension Heart 90s from tomorrow (August 29).

The DAB digital station will feature artists such as Take That, Spice Girls, George Michael, Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears.

Kevin Hughes (pictured) will present the Heart 90s breakfast show, weekdays from 6am–10am. He currently hosts Saturday afternoons on Heart.

The station will be available across the UK on DAB Digital Radio on D1, and across multiple platforms on Global Player and smart speakers.

It follows the launch of Heart Dance in June. Heart also has its nostalgic 1980s brand extension, Heart 80s, which has a weekly RAJAR reach of 1.495 million, up 27.7% year-on-year.

The media group is teasing further digital launches in the days ahead.

James Rea, managing editor of Heart, said: “We’re incredibly excited to reveal the latest addition to the Heart brand – Heart 90s – launching tomorrow! The playlist is pure ’90s feelgood nostalgia and Heart 90s will celebrate the greatest hits from this iconic decade, which produced some of biggest feelgood records of all time. It’s a very exciting time for the nation’s biggest commercial radio brand and we have yet more huge news coming tomorrow!
