US tour commitments may have prevented an appearance by Ed Sheeran, but the 2017 Hyundai Mercury Prize Awards Show has secured performances from all of the other shortlisted acts.
It was confirmed today that 11 shortlisted acts – Alt-j, Blossoms, Dinosaur, Glass Animals, J Hus, Kate Tempest, Loyle Carner, Sampha, Stormzy, The Big Moon and The xx – will play at the September 14 awards ceremony at the Eventim Apollo in London.
BBC Music will provide live coverage on BBC Four and BBC Radio 6 Music. BBC Two will also broadcast a 30-minute documentary previewing the shortlisted artists.
Following the televised performances on the night, the album of the year prize will be presented to one of the 12 shortlisted acts.
Digital music partner Apple Music will be promoting the Mercury Prize through to the awards ceremony.
