BBC Radio 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne will broadcast her mid-morning radio show from Huddersfield’s Vinyl Tap on the eve (April 21) of the 10th annual Record Store Day.
Laverne, who hosted last week’s Music Week Awards, will be live from the John William Street retailer, playing a variety of exclusive Record Store Day releases, live music, interviews and a special Prince inspired all-vinyl Desert Island Disco with Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor.
Also joining her in-store will be a raft of additional guests, including spoken word artist Kate Tempest and poet Simon Armitage. Local band Fold will also be live in session.
The store will still be open to the public and visitors are welcome to watch the show being made, subject to space.
Laverne said: “The 10th anniversary of Record Store Day is going to be a hugely special day, and I’m so pleased to be marking the occasion in Huddersfield at one of the most iconic record stores with some of the most talented people in the industry.”
