London Live has announced an official media partnership with Amy’s Yard - the Amy Winehouse Foundation programme that uses music to support the personal and professional development of aspiring young artists.
To launch the partnership, London Live has commissioned a behind-the-scenes documentary, Amy Winehouse Foundation: Amy’s Yard, about the Amy’s Yard programme that will broadcast exclusively on the channel tonight at 9pm, on what would have been Winehouse’s birthday and marking the sixth anniversary of the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
The documentary features interviews with Amy’s parents Mitch and Janis, as well as interviews with the most recent alumni of the programme, who have spent 12 weeks working from the North London studio Amy recorded in, with a professional producer to create an original track.
Lorna Cole, London Live’s content and partnerships manager, said: “When we saw the transformative nature of what’s achieved with the young people on the Amy’s Yard programme, we felt showcasing the work they do would be the perfect opportunity for us to take our existing relationship with the Amy Winehouse Foundation to a new level. They’ve given us unprecedented access for this documentary and we hope to add to this initial piece as the partnership moves forward."
The artists at Amy’s Yard also attended a series of master classes delivered by industry professionals from companies including Island Records, Amy’s record label.
As part of the partnership London Live will be offering media training master classes for future students of the programme and giving alumni the opportunity to perform on the news in the London Live studios.
Rowan Carnihan, Amy’s Yard’s programme & events director added: “Since the early days of Amy’s Yard, London Live have been regular supporters of the project, so it seemed only natural to take our work together to the next step and make our partnership official. It has been an absolute pleasure working with the team at London Live to make the documentary, and we very much look forward to developing our relationship further and getting them even more involved in our work supporting talented young people."
The UK premiere of Amy Winehouse’s Legacy: Amy’s Yard is on London Live tonight at 9pm
