Here’s our first online line-up of Music Week Awards winners reacting to the big news…

Music Consumer Innovation – TikTok, TikTok Music

Paul Hourican (head of UK music operations, TikTok): “We really appreciate this award – it means so much to me and all the team at TikTok in the UK. Winning the Music Consumer Innovation award wouldn’t be possible without the passion, drive and dedication of our incredible music operations team here in the UK who have worked so hard in paving the way to this moment. Everyone at TikTok has worked so hard together to make it the success it is, so this really is for all of us at the business. I’d also like to thank all our amazing partners across the industry and the amazing artists who inspire our users and spark creativity and joy every day on the platform. This was a tough category and I know and love the other nominees. To respect the competition so much makes it a special win for all of us. We’re massively humbled to receive this, and it’s a huge recognition for the hard work so far.”

Manager Of The Year – Ed Millett & Ben Mawson, Tap Music

Ed Millett: “This award is recognition for how Tap’s whole team has delivered for our artists. We’re grateful and delighted to win! It’s a great honour to be recognised at any time, but in this year, which ?has thrown so much uncertainty everyone’s way, it?is extra-special.”

Ben Mawson: “It is humbling to be selected from such a strong group of nominees as winners of an award based upon our achievements. It takes immense personal commitment, belief, and endless hard work to be successful in this industry, and all our colleagues in management also deserve credit alongside our team at Tap for the amazing industry we all help sustain. It seems more important than ever for managers to work together – at Tap we welcome collaboration with our colleagues. And, of course, this award is also testament to the sheer talent of our amazing clients.”

Charlie Shawcross (senior marketing manager, Columbia): “It feels great! There were a lot of brilliant campaigns nominated this year and so we feel very fortunate to have the work on the Harry Styles campaign recognised – thank you Music Week.”

Label/Artist Services – Caroline International

Nicola Spokes (label head): “Of course, I’m going to say we have the best team – we do! Artist/label services, is, as the name describes, a service business, so like any service business it comes down to people, and the quality of service those people provide, and I truly believe our team are the best.”

Law Firm Of The Year – Simons, Muirhead & Burton

Richard Baskind (partner): “We’re really delighted. We’ve worked hard as a team over the last few years to build our practice and reputation and I’m really proud of what we have accomplished. We effectively started the music practice at SMB when I joined the firm nine years ago, and the firm getting this recognition from our industry peers is a great acknowledgement of the work we’ve done since then and the support we’ve had from all at SMB. So, thank you to Music Week and to the panel of judges.”

Accountancy Firm Of The Year – CC Young & Co

Colin Young: “Since lockdown in March and the restraints imposed by Covid-19, the summer of 2020 has been grey. To win the award this year is a delight to me and my staff. Once announced, we will celebrate. It is recognition of our hard work, diligence and collection of rewarding clients.”
