New edition of Music Week out now

The new issue of Music Week is out now, and this week we’re celebrating the career of a bona fide musical legend.

Nile Rodgers stars on our cover, and is interviewed alongside manager Merck Mercuriadis and Virgin EMI president Ted Cockle ahead of the release of It’s About Time, his first album since 1992.

Needless to say, it’s a big deal, as are the star songwriter and producer’s recollections on an extraordinary career, which encompasses working with everyone from David Bowie to Mura Masa. Our cover story divulges precisely how Rodgers has maintained a gold standard for so many years.

Elsewhere, we reveal how ITV2 reality TV smash Love Island became a vital cog in the sync industry in a report featuring insight from across the sector, as well as from the team who make the show.

We go deep with Sire Records legend Seymour Stein to find out what’s next for the storied executive, and Phil Thornalley gives us the lowdown on Natalie Imbruglia’s mega hit Torn in the latest edition of Hitmakers.

We’ve got the very latest on the Mercury Prize fall out in this week’s Big Story, as the industry rallies around the album format. Also in the news section, we find out how the new Mamma Mia OST will take on The Greatest Showman, plus there are big goings on at Amazon.

Teenage pop nomad Au/Ra is On The Radar, in the week her Panic Room single breaks the airplay Top 75, while Brighton newcomer Grace Carter features in Making Waves. This week’s Sync Story digs into what happened when Beastie Boys collaborator Money Mark made a track on the tennis court with Roger Federer.

To cap off the issue, Wembley Arena’s John Drury takes on The Aftershow, with backstage stories galore.

Alongside all that, there’s all the very latest news, charts, analysis and market share figures.

Don’t forget, the deadline for entries to the Music Week Sync Awards 2018 comes later this week on August 2. For all information and to enter, click here.
