The Music Week Awards – the biggest and best night out in the music industry calendar – returns to reward the stellar achievements of the UK music biz on Thursday, May 9. And we are delighted to announce that PPL are sponsoring the Radio Station award – one of the most prestigious and fiercely contested categories.
Speaking about the sponsorship, Peter Leathem, chief executive officer, PPL said: “We are proud to continue with our support of the Music Week Awards – an annual event in the music industry calendar to which we always look forward. Music radio remains an important medium and source of licensing revenue for PPL’s many thousands of performers and recording rightsholders. We are excited to present the Best Radio Station award to the winner at the ceremony on 9 May.”
Last year, BBC 6 Music won the Radio Station category, beating stiff competition from Absolute, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1Xtra, BBC Radio 2, Classic FM, Planet Rock and Radio X.
Entries are now closed for the Music Week Awards 2019, but the nominations will be revealed very soon. Suffice to say that, with our new venue Battersea Evolution offering an increased capacity and a more versatile room, and with YouTube Music as our official sponsors, the stage has been set for us to put on our best show yet.
You can see the full list of winners from last year here and don’t forget to revisit some of the best moments of the night.
