BBC Radio 1 controller Ben Cooper has played down the station’s near 10% drop in listeners, as UK weekly radio figures soared to a record 48.7 million.
Radio 1 listening figures fell 9.4% year-on-year to 9.45m, according to the RAJAR figures for the second quarter of 2016, down 4.6% on the first quarter.
