Radio X is broadcasting a show dedicated to Viola Beach, ahead of the band's posthumous debut album being released.
With the self-titled LP out this Friday (July 29), the radio station will provide a full album playback, presented by Communion's Maz Tappuni, who worked closely with the four-piece, and will air interviews with those close to the band, including friends and family members and the band Blossoms, who toured with Viola Beach supporting.
Radio X previously heavily promoted the band's Swings And single after their tragic car accident in February, and has been playing the album's lead single, Boys That Sing, in advance of the album. The show will last 60 minutes and will air this Thursday (July 28) at 9pm, to help the album chart as highly as possible.
Mike Walsh, head of music at Radio X, said: "We were lucky enough to cross the path of Viola Beach very early on here at Radio X and were all struck by their energy and potential. We were horribly shaken by the news of the tragic accident in February and decided then to honour the memory of the band as much as we can.
"The more music we heard, the more we loved it and it seemed natural to tell their story, and our special album playback show is one of the ways that we’re celebrating the music of this brilliant young band. We hope that as many people as possible hear this truly great British debut album."
