Syco managing director Tyler Brown has praised the songwriting prowess of contestants on the latest series of The X Factor.
Speaking in the latest issue of Music Week, he singled out the success of tracks from the show by Grace Davies and Rak-Su. While X Factor recordings are not chart eligible, Rak-Su’s original song Dimelo made No.1 on iTunes this week after triumphing in the vote on Saturday’s show (November 4).

“What I’ve noticed is that the audience now want originality, they want artists to be authentic,” Brown told Music Week.
After the first live shows (October 28-29), Grace Davies reached No.2 on iTunes with Too Young and Rak-Su made No.3 with Mamacita.
“I think the reason why people like Grace and Rak-Su is because they are authentic and they are great songwriters,” added Brown.
Syco are currently enjoying a massive hit with Camila Cabello's Havana.
