Obama picks new Librarian of Congress
President Obama has appointed Dr. Carla Hayden to be the new Librarian of Congress. The position has been vacant since the retirement at the end of last year of James Billington who held the position for 28 years.
Hayden becomes the 14th Librarian of Congress, as well as the first woman and African-American to hold this position in the Library’s 214-year history. She was CEO of Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore. Among the key issues that Hayden will have ...
