Independent publisher Defend Music Inc. has signed Death Cab For Cutie member and record producer Chris Walla (pictured) to a global publishing deal.
The deal includes Walla's catalogue written with the US alternative band, which features songs such as Transatlanticism, I Will Possess Your Heart, Crooked Teeth, Title and Registration.
“We’re ecstatic to welcome the one-of-a-kind Chris Walla to our roster,” said Defend founder and president Michael Prommer. “The foundation of Defend’s business has always been writers who've created a unique and timeless style all their own. Chris is a perfect fit in our family.”
In 2018, Defend writers have contributed to LoveHappy by The Carters; Adam and Eve by Nas; Lift Yourself by Kanye West and Panic! At The Disco’s (Fuck A) Silver Lining and The Overpass from the band’s new US No.1 album Pray for the Wicked.
In sync, its clients' songs have been heard in 2018 ads for the Apple iPhone and Apple Shot on iPhone, GoDaddy, Rexona/Degree, Coors Light, Uncle Drew, Zappos, Target, Lean Cuisine and Strongbow, among others.
Prommer founded Defend Music Inc. in 2004. The company's catalogue includes contemporary copyrights such as Beyoncé’s Freedom, Kanye West’s Monster and Jay-Z’s Roc Boys (And the Winner Is).
