Downtown Music Publishing has announced a round of new appointments in its Nashville office.
Four new hires and two promotions mean that the company’s Nashville operation grows by 50%, a reflection of recent Downtown success in country and Americana.
Matt Turner, previously of Big Loud Publishing and Ole Nashville, joins as senior director A&R, Nashville. He has previously worked on No.1 singles for Blake Shelton, Justin Moore, Kenny Chesney and others.
Steve Markland, senior VP of A&R, Nashville, said: "We are so excited to have Matt Turner at Downtown Nashville. Matt brings very valuable and rich experience from his time at Big Loud Music. He is a champion of writers and will add a fantastic balance to our team."
Downtown’s other new arrivals are Garrett Stephenson as office coordinator, Caylan Hays as sync licensing assistant, and Kyle Coker as copyright assistant.
Natalie Osborne has been promoted to director of A&R, Nashville. Osborne, who signed Fancy Hagood, was hired in September 2015 as creative coordinator/administrative assistant and in 2017 was promoted to creative manager.
Markland said: "We are so lucky to have Natalie and Katie at Downtown! Natalie is a total natural for working with songwriters and has amazing creative instincts, and we are excited to have Katie Roth joining our A&R team as well. I couldn't ask for better fits for Downtown and our writers.”
Katie Roth has been promoted to join the A&R team as creative coordinator.
In the last year, Downtown Nashville had 11 singles on the country radio charts, including three No.1s. The company signed John Prine, acquired catalogues from Major Bob Music and launched Songwriters Without Borders, an initiative designed to connect Downtown's global writers across continents and genres. Downtown's global staff has more than doubled in the 12 months.
Downtown's Nashville Office is now comprised as follows: Steve Markland (senior VP of A&R), Matt Turner (senior director A&R), Natalie Osborne (director A&R), Katie Roth (A&R coordinator), Garrett Stephenson (Office Coordinator), Caylan Hays (sync licensing assistant), Kyle Coker (copyright assistant), Emily Stephenson (director, global client services).
