The xx have renewed their worldwide publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG).
The London trio, formed in 2005 and signed to Young Turks for records, have been with to UMPG for a decade. They released their Mercury Prize-winning debut album, xx, 10 years ago.
In 2012, they released Coexist, following it in 2017 with I See You, which topped the albums chart in the UK.
Mark Gale, VP International A&R and director of A&R at UMPG said: “We originally signed The xx purely on the basis of a set of songs we heard and loved. It’s been extraordinary to see the artist and individuals that they’ve evolved into. They are constantly looking forward and challenging themselves creatively. It’s a huge privilege and compliment that after 10 years they continue to trust all of us at Universal Music Publishing with their songs.”
The xx’s music has been widely synced, key placements include Gossip Girl, Chatroom, House Of Cards and FIFA 2018. The band wrote Together for Baz Luhrmann’s 2013 adaptation of The Great Gatsby. The OST holds the record for the largest digital sales in a week for a soundtrack.
In 2017, the band broke records with a seven-night residency at O2 Academy Brixton.
Jamie xx released his BRIT, Mercury and Grammy-nominated debut album In Colour in 2015. In 2018, Romy Madley Croft co-wrote the Grammy-winning Electricity by Silk City featuring Dua Lipa.
