Music Week’s round-up of essential biz stories you might have missed…

Creative Kobalt

Kobalt Music Publishing has promoted Jamie Kinelski to the position of VP, creative. Based in Kobalt’s Los Angeles office, Kinelski was previously senior director, creative. Kinelski has signed songwriters, artists and publishers including Kali Uchis, Jared Leto, Father John Misty, Doc McKinney, Sophie, Natalie Prass, Lil Dicky, Sam Hollander, Anderson East, The Lemon Twigs, Heavy Duty Publishing and 88Rising.

Kobalt chief creative officer, Sas Metcalfe, said: “Jamie is the ultimate team player and that quality has earned her the trust and respect of artists and songwriters. I’m thrilled with the outstanding success she is having with her signings and collaboration with Kobalt clients. Her most recent promotion is well earned.”

"Big" deal

Primary Wave Music Publishing has acquired a stake in the music catalogue of American delta blues singer Arthur “Big Boy” Crudup. The acquisition includes income streams from some of Crudup’s biggest hits such as That’s All Right and My Baby Left Me – both recorded by Elvis Presley.

Justin Shukat, president of Primary Wave, said: "We are excited to add Arthur Crudup's songs and have him as part of our growing roster of artists and catalogues. He was an innovator and a classic blues artist."

Wight Elephant

Garbage, Keane, Cage The Elephant, Picture This and Ward Thomas have joined the Isle of Wight Festival 2019 line-up.

The event, which takes place on June 13-16, has already announced Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, George Ezra, Biffy Clyro and Fatboy Slim as headliners. Other acts on the bill include Lily Allen, Jess Glynne, Sigrid, Sam Fender and Tom Walker.

Celine In The Park

British Summer Time Hyde Park has announced guests for Celine Dion’s headlining show in the Hyde Park this July. Josh Groban will be a supporting, along with Claire Richards. Dion is headlining The Great Oak Stage for her only European date of 2019.

“Over the course of my career, Celine has been an inspiration, friend, and singing with her quite frankly started my career as a teenager,” said Groban. “To join her for this extremely special concert is a great honour and I look forward to giving my all for her and the audience at Hyde Park.”

Playlist push

SoundCloud has added playlists curated by music journalists, alongside existing playlists such as Fresh Pressed and personalised weekly recommendations in SoundCloud Weekly.

The Feed curates an artist’s likes, follows and reposts on SoundCloud – Juice Wrld’s SoundCloud stream is the first to feature on the playlist. Other new playlists include Noise and 808s (rap), Speed Bumps (rapid electro) and Drappin’ (hot hip-hop tracks).
