Becca Gatrell, former head of film and television at Universal Music Publishing, has launched a new company aimed at providing songwriters with a wide range of publishing, sync and music supervision services.
The company, called Wow & Flutter, will be based in London and will work closely with both emerging and established talent, with a core focus on the film and TV sectors.
Its publishing division will be a global joint venture with Universal Music Publishing and will look to sign a diverse range of talent from across different genres. The division recently signed and is developing three emerging artists, Sean Gadd (founding member of Grouplove), Tommy Ashby and Rinngs, with more signings to be announced in the near future.
Meanwhile, the music supervision and sync arms of the business will operate as wholly owned, in-house operations.
Gatrell launches the company having built up a wealth of experience as a film music supervisor. She is currently working on feature film Bodies for the director/writer team B Welby Delimere and Rory Fleck Byrne. Previous credits include Children of Men for Alfonso Cuaron.
“The vision for Wow & Flutter is to establish a broad platform for writers and to draw on our extensive expertise and experience in publishing, film and synchronisation to help develop their careers creatively and commercially,” said Gatrell. “We want to look at signing all types of music while establishing ourselves as a home of high quality work and feel we are in a very strong position to nurture great songwriting and composition talent.”
