Music publisher Sentric has acquired a stake in electronic music publisher Black Rock.
Black Rock’s founder, Mark Lawrence (pictured), and the label’s day-to-day client contact Kirsty Lawrence will join the Sentric team.
The deal will enable Black Rock’s label, management and artist clients to utilise the worldwide resources and infrastructure of Sentric, including its sync and administration services.
“Mark’s reputation in the world of electronic music is second to none. To be able to bring both him and Kirsty into the Sentric team is a big opportunity for us,” said Sentric Music CEO, Chris Meehan. “We look forward to helping Black Rock’s longstanding clients take their music and businesses to the next level, allowing them to plug into Sentric’s global reach and industry leading infrastructure.”
Black Rock’s roster includes artists such as Roni Size, GotSome, Danny Howard, Rodriquez Jr, Matador, Felix Da Housecat, DJ Sneak and Harry Romero, as well as labels such as Toolroom, Snatch! and Full Cycle. The brand and company of Black Rock is set to maintain itself within the Sentric deal.
Lawrence said: “Black Rock grew at such a rapid rate that, having worked with Sentric since we launched in 2013, it made complete sense to formally join forces. Having Black Rock within Sentric Music gives us access to more and more people and great technology, allowing us to pass efficiency gains through to our writer, publisher and label partners.
“I am looking forward to delivering new services for electronic music producers and labels and continuing to transform the ways in which royalties are collected and our genre is promoted.”
