Guy Moot, Sony/ATV president, worldwide creative, has hailed the “dynamic duo” behind Futurekind, a global joint venture with the publisher. In this week’s issue of Music Week, Futurekind’s co-founders and owners Chuck Waite and Laurence Abrahams discuss their first year of operation.
Under its JV global administration agreement with Sony/ATV, the Hammersmith-based company has signed songwriters and producers including Jamie Norton (Take That), The 23rd (Sigrid, Ellie Goulding), Tom Mann (Liam Payne, Becky Hill), Dan Bartlett (Little Mix, Ella Henderson) and Joe Janiak (Britney Spears, Tove Lo, Jessie Ware).
Following a “really successful first year”, Waite said Futurekind is planning to develop its management side (including Norton and Janiak) and master recordings.
“Chuck and Laurence are a dynamic duo,” said Moot. “They have the unique ability of discovering new songwriter talent, they also understand that publishing is about creating sessions, combining co-writes and opportunities to create meaningful cuts and hit songs.
“The Futurekind roster, in conjunction with Sony/ATV’s capabilities, international A&R teams and wider roster will create a compelling partnership.”
