Former PRS For Music exec Karen Buse has landed a new role at US collection society BMI as managing director, European society relations.
Highly-respected Buse, who joined Music Week’s Women In Music Roll Of Honour last year, will work closely with key European and global performing rights societies in her newly-created role to help maximise BMI's international revenues, improve business practices and identify growth opportunities. She will also support BMI’s international team on global copyright management initiatives.
Buse will be based in London and report to BMI SVP, international & global policy, Ann Sweeney. Buse served 28 years at PRS, most recently as executive director of the membership and international department, where she helped international revenues grow exponentially in recent years. She left PRS in November last year.
“I have known and worked with Karen for many years and have always admired her depth of experience in collective rights management and her excellent relationships throughout the global performing rights community,” said Sweeney. “We are thrilled to have her join our team, which will only further enhance our relationships with the many international sister societies that are so important to BMI.”
BMI recently announced record revenues of $1.199 billion for the financial year ending June 30.
