Matt Hancock MP, the new minister of state for digital and culture, will give the keynote address at the BPI’s 2016 AGM next week.
Taking place at County Hall’s Riverside Rooms on Wednesday, September 7, the AGM will mark Hancock’s first keynote speech addressing the recorded music industry since his appointment to the role on July 15.
Geoff Taylor, chief executive BPI & BRIT Awards, commented: “We are delighted to welcome the minister to our AGM following his recent appointment. Music is a successful and growing digital industry for the UK, and it is encouraging that the Minister has recognised this by addressing us at this early stage of the new Government.”
The AGM kicks off with the Annual Conference to Members (ACM) at 1.30pm, which will include two panel discussions on How to Market your Music through Streaming Services and Brexit and the Implications for the UK Music Industry.
This is followed at 4pm by the AGM itself, which will include the election of designated major and independent representatives to BPI Council (details and filmed candidate manifestos are available in the members section of the BPI website).
The AGM will also celebrate the forthcoming 25th anniversary of the BRIT School.
Guests are invited to remain for the BPI’s annual Summer Drinks and music entertainment, which begins at 5pm.
