PRS For Music hails global expansion as key to stellar 2016 performance

PRS For Music chief executive Robert Ashcroft has given Music Week the inside track on the collecting society’s record-breaking 2016 performance, after over half a billion pounds was paid out in royalties.

Last Friday, the company revealed that £527.6 million was paid out to music creators last year - up 11.1% year-on-year - while revenues soared 10.1% to £621.5m. That was after PRS data volume for the year soared 80%, with 4.3 trillion performances of music reported across the globe.
