Sony/ATV has signed new rapper Lil Skies to a worldwide publishing deal.
The Pennsylvania-based rapper has been one of 2018's breakout stars, with two Billboard Top 100 hits and a US Top 10 album to his name.
Sony/ATV VP, creative Ian Holder said: “Skies is special. As much as we love what he’s doing right now, I believe he’s only scratching the surface. I think when we are able to look at his body of work years from now, we’ll find an artist who continues to evolve.”
Lil Skies said: “Signing with Sony/ATV was life changing for me. We are about to make history.”
Born Kimetrius Foose, he adopted the Lil Skies moniker after his musician father Dark Skies.
The 19-year-old released two mixtapes to Soundcloud prior to signing with Atlantic Records via Artist Partner Group. In January, Skies’ debut album Life Of A Dark Rose climbed to 10 on the Billboard 200 chart., while his first singles Red Roses and Nowadays, featuring the rapper Landon Cube, scored him back-to-back Hot 100 hits.
Skies’ manager Carlmichael “Stokey” Cannady said: “Having my artist sign with Sony/ATV was one of the best decisions I have made. I hope this feeling lasts my whole career.”
