Sony/ATV unveils promotions in its Los Angeles A&R department

Sony/ATV has revealed details of a pair of promotions in its Los Angeles office. 

Lou Al-Chamaa moves up to vice president, A&R and Nick Bral becomes director, A&R.

Al-Chamaa reports to Sony/ATV co-president, US, Rick Krim and Bral reports to SVPs and co-heads of West Coast A&R Jennifer Knoepfle and Amanda Berman-Hill.

Rick Krim commented: “Lou and Nick live and breathe A&R and each have a deep and diverse knowledge of music. Both of them are totally dedicated to their writers who they work tirelessly and passionately for and they truly deserve these promotions.”

Al-Chamaa’s signings include the Grammy-nominated Daniel Caesar and his production team Jordan Evans and Matthew Burnett. He also secured the signature of Tank God, who co-wrote and co-produced Post Malone’s international chart-topper Rockstar, and Ben Abraham, who has worked with artists including Sara Bareilles and Kelly Clarkson, co-wrote Kesha’s Praying and is signed as an artist to Atlantic Records. Al-Chamaa also signed Lucky Daye, one of the first artists signed to new RCA imprint Keep Cool.

Al-Chamaa also works with Mike Posner, whose 2016 single I Took A Pill In Ibiza reached No. 1 in the UK and was certified double platinum in more than 10 territories. He also works with Brett McLaughlin (aka Leland) and has developed artists including Selena Gomez, Kelsea Ballerini and Daya.

Al-Chamaa worked for RCA and Atlantic Records, before joining Sony/ATV in 2014.

Nick Bral joined in 2013 as an assistant in the company’s Los Angeles A&R department after graduating from university.

His signings include Mike Sabath who co-wrote and produced Liam Payne & J Balvin’s Familiar, Dan Nigro whose songs have been recorded by artists including Sky Ferreira and Carly Rae Jepsen, Andrew Maury and Kameron Alexander.

He has also worked with Jesse St John who co-wrote recent singles by Andy Grammer and Lauv and contributed to Camila Cabello’s debut solo album.
