Peermusic has promoted Tuff Morgan to VP of A&R.
In his new role, Morgan will lead Peermusic’s A&R efforts in the pop and urban genres for the company’s US offices. He will continue to be based out of the Burbank offices and will report to president, Kathy Spanberger.
“It is very rare to find an executive that has Tuff’s skill set,” said Spanberger. “His background as an artist and songwriter gives him the sensitivity and creativity to work well with the creativity community but that innate skill is coupled with a razor sharp and transparent business mind that gives our clients the information they need to make sound decisions about their careers. It’s an unbeatable combination.”
“I’m blessed to work with such an amazing and diverse group of songwriters,” said Morgan. “Every day I look forward to the opportunity of building something special and innovative with the Peermusic family for the songwriters we work with.”
Morgan’s roster of songwriters includes Salaam Remi (Nas, Amy Winehouse, Alicia Keys, Miguel, Jasmine Sullivan), James Poyser (Anthony Hamilton, Lauren Hill, Rhianna), Volume Venture’s Larrance Dopson/ TrapMoneyBenny (Sam Smith, Justin Timberlake, Chance the rapper, Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Drake, HER, Ella Mai), Sons of Sonix (Tre Songz, Ty$, Stormzy, J-Lo, Ariana Grande) and The Audibles (Justin Bieber, Sam Smith, Zac Brown), as well as artists Linda Perry, Madison Ward and Cigarettes After Sex.
Morgan has over 15 years of music industry experience that includes work as an artist, producer, songwriter, manager, publisher, and A&R rep. He was previously senior director of A&R, Peermusic. He first joined the publisher in 2014 as director of pop & urban music, after a spell as a consultant.
