Futurekind has been busy expanding since Music Week first reported on its publishing JV with Sony/ATV.
As revealed in the latest issue, the music and entertainment company has now formed a co-publishing venture with Outcry, which was founded by Disciples writer and producer Nathan Duvall.
Duvall and Outcry will work exclusively with Futurekind Songs to source songwriter opportunities and make signings. Futurekind will administer and co-own rights to future signings as well as the existing Outcry catalogue, including songwriter Kiris Houston who co-wrote Disciples’ On My Mind.
The latest deal follows the investment partnership between Futurekind co-founders Laurence Abrahams and Chuck Waite and First Access Entertainment.
Duvall said: “I’ve been searching for a company to partner with for the best part of a year. It’s not every day you meet people who equal your ambitions. Chuck and Laurence not only have the aspirations but they have the boardroom banter to match, which makes it ten times more fun. We aim for the stars and won’t settle for anything less. I’m honoured to be in partnership with Futurekind."
Abrahams said: “I have known Nathan for years having previously represented him while at SSB. He is dynamic, entrepreneurial and wants to push the boundaries of today’s modern collaborative approach to the music business. I am very happy for Futurekind to partner with Nathan and his publishing company – it encapsulates the spirit of everything we value and truly complements what we are working towards with Futurekind. We look forward to working together with Nathan in seeking, and procuring the best opportunities for the writers signed to our new venture.”

Waite added: “Nathan is the blueprint for tomorrow’s A&R executive, and publishing company owner. His skill set and practical experience through his work as an artist has enabled him to develop an innate ear for hit records, and a truly panoramic view of the music industry and the entrepreneurial opportunity that lies within. Understanding how compositions go from an idea to a fully formed song is paramount to tomorrow’s A&R’s maintaining a consistent and constant hit rate. Nathan is sat on years of experience as a creator, honing and refining a very successful instinctive mindset. The Futurekind teams in both London and LA will provide Nathan and Outcry with true global support as he sets out his bold and ambitious publishing stall.”
Disciples released their debut EP Remedy in 2013, followed by their first major hit They Don’t Know (187,233 OCC sales to date) in 2014. Last year’s Parlophone-released On My Mind has 659,706 OCC sales so far and peaked at No.15. The trio's singles success led to collaborations with David Guetta (No Worries) and Calvin Harris (How Deep Is Your Love).
