AMRA has expanded its presence in Europe, with a new Stockholm location to support its Scandinavian and northern European clients.
The global digital society for independent publishers and songwriters, which is owned by Kobalt, has also announced further expansion plans with nine new open positions in its copyright and digital matching departments, based in the UK.
“In the past six months AMRA has re-engineered the collection process to maximise value for songwriters and publishers. With our efficiency and direct collection of money for music around the globe, we’ve seen a strong uptick in demand and growth,” said AMRA CEO, Tomas Ericsson. “Over this same time, we’ve been monitoring and analysing our efficiency versus industry baselines and I’m proud to say we’re outperforming them by a significant margin.
Additionally, we have spent a lot of time establishing our direct licensing reach into territories like Japan and Brazil and we are now collecting from more than 200 territories around the world. This business innovation is a big step forward for not just AMRA clients, but the entire industry. We’re bringing more money back to the rightful owners.”
AMRA’s Stockholm office will be led by Marten Karlsson, who will service the region’s current client base and establish AMRA’s local presence in the Scandinavian music industry. He was previously at the Swedish Society of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.
“I’m excited to join AMRA and support our clients to ensure they see the full value of a global digital collections society,” said Karlsson. “It is critical that AMRA has a local presence in Scandinavia so that rights holders understand the collection uplift AMRA brings to its clients. I look forward to helping our clients realise more money for their music, faster payments and reporting, while helping further expand our operations here in Scandinavia.”
AMRA has signed new global licensing deals with Spirit Music Publishing and Sentric Music.
“We are excited to be working with Spirit and Sentric to create enhanced value in the global digital space,” said Ericsson. “To be able to generate more global digital value for the rich and unique song catalogue from these publishers is truly exciting and I looking forward to working with Spirit and Sentric leadership in the coming years ahead.”
Sentric Music CEO, Chris Meehan, added: “We’re very much looking forward to working with Tomas and the team at AMRA to enhance our global digital collections and pass on the benefits of their fantastic system and network to our writers and partners.”
