British DJ and production duo CamelPhat have signed to RCA Records.
Mike Di Scala and Dave Whelan put out a number of digital EPs and singles via Vice and Nervous Records before signing to Dutch EDM label Spinnin' Records in 2014.
CamelPhat came to prominence last year with the hit Cola, a collaboration with fellow electronic act Elderbrook. Released via Defected/ADA, the track has sales to date of 708,235, according to the Official Charts Company.
David Dollimore, president, RCA Records and Ministry Of Sound, said: “CamelPhat are a global main stage act. They are exceptionally talented pioneers of credible electronic music, a genre and culture I have been immersed in for many years. Cola is a record that is timeless that people in years to come will still refer to or play. RCA are delighted to be working with Camelphat. 2019 will certainly be their biggest year to date.”
CamelPhat said: “It’s been a long time coming and a massive weight off our shoulders. We had four majors chasing the deal all summer long, so at times it was a little stressful but we’re both feeling very excited and thankful we finally got the deal we always wanted. We just want to get on with it now, lock ourselves away and surround ourselves with the best emerging talent we can possibly get and take the album to the next level. It’s going to be a huge priority for the next few months.”
