A new David Bowie photography exhibition set to open in London in 2017

London's Proud Gallery has revealed details of an upcoming David Bowie exhibition.

Bowie by Duffy opens in January 2017 and is comprised of portraits of the singer shot by Brian Duffy, who worked extensively with Bowie between 1972-1980, capturing intimate and memorable images. Their collaborations produced iconic shots including the cover of 1973’s Aladdin Sane album.

Duffy began his career as a fashion designer, and the two men shared an obvious affection for style, which enabled Duffy to snap the singer in a way that helped establish him as a cultural icon.

The exhibition is timed to coincide both with the first anniversary of Bowie’s death and what would have been his 70th birthday. It’s the second such celebration to be announced this week, following the Celebrating David Bowie concert that is set to take place at the O2 Brixton Academy on January 8. That show will see Bowie’s old bandmates, led by Gary Oldman, celebrate his life and career on stage with a group of 40 local musicians.

The show runs at Proud Gallery in Chelsea from January 6-February 5, entry is free.
