Yesterday saw the 43rd BASCA Gold Badge Awards ceremony take place at the Savoy London.
The awards, which were founded in 1974, recognise exceptional people from across the industry who have made a unique contribution to British music. Among the 12 individuals to receive Gold Badges on the day were The Kinks legend Ray Davies, Radio 2 DJ Janice Long, singer Dame Cleo Lane and composer Neil Brand.
Jazz artist Liane Carroll was also among the winners, as was music business lawyer Paddy Grafton Green, former creative director at Schott Music Sally Groves and Sir Karl Jenkins, who, a recent global survey found, is now the most performed living composer.
Other Gold Badge recipients include Southbank Centre director of music Gillian Moore, compilation album mastermind Don Reedman, Average White Band’s Hamish Stuart and The Songwriting Charity founder Nathan Timothy.
Commenting on this year’s event, BASCA chairman Crispin Hunt, commented: “It is a great pleasure for BASCA to celebrate the creativity, inspiration, taste and genius included in this year’s list of Gold Badge Award recipients. Each of these remarkable individuals has helped shape the architecture of the music Britain loves in their own unique and significant way. For BASCA’s community of songwriters and composers to be able to congratulate and pay tribute to their influence in our profession at this joyous event is an honour.”
